<p>Benjamin Franklin’s autobiography is undoubtedly of the most important and influential pieces of literature in American history. Franklin is considered one of the exemplary quintessential Americans. His book depicts the many roles he had which helped him go from humble beginnings to esteemed American. These roles include: printer and publisher, scientist and inventor, author and educator, statesman and philanthropist. who retired at age 42. Franklin’s ‘rags to riches’ story exemplifies how he was a self made American man. As his book demonstrates, Benjamin Franklin is a role model for future generations of America because it helps explain America’s roots. Because he emerged as one of the leaders of the American colonies, he found himself living a very varied life. Franklin was at the center of almost every major American event in the 2<sup>nd</sup> half of the 18<sup>th</sup> century. He was the most famous American among all of the colonies because of his success in a wide array of topics, especially his scientific experiments –in which he invented the lightbulb, the lightening rod, the Franklin stove, and a carriage odometer.</p>
<p>Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1706 and died on April 17, 1790. Benjamin Franklin was a noted self made American, who became one of the founding fathers of the USA. He aided in politics including his important role assisting President Thomas Jefferson with the Declaration of Independence.
